Donald reviews literature desipte his complete lack of qualifications.

I figure this: I've read a lot of books, and most of them were written before 1970... So I should be able to write reviews and critiques, right? Completely wrong, but I will do so anyways. I also refuse to re-read any books, so I'm basically working from memory a lot of the time. This may not be 'objective' or 'accurate' in any sense of either of those two words, but you should trust my opinion. Why? Because I got style, that's why.

Brave New World (Aldous Huxley)

Background:
Yeah, so all the people in this society are genetically engineered, the people in the top classes are smart and sexy and the people in the bottom classes are stupid and sorta deformed. Books are outlawed, or something, and people are whacked out on 'Soma', a drug that mellows people out. People have sex all the time (with different partners) and there's probably other important background information I forget.

Plot:
Some smart (but sorta deformed dude) in the top class takes this vixen with purple eyes out to reservation type deal out in New-Mexico. They find a guy there who acts like people now a days and knows all Shakespeare plays. Anyway they bring him back to England and he loses his mind, beats the hell out of the vixen and hangs himself (to the best of my recollection).

Comments:
I liked it, I've read a whole lot of dystopian novels though. This one was short, it had that much going for it. I don't remember what the book's message was, don't trust people who only read Shakespeare I guess. I don't remember the writing being particularly awful, as you can see I don't remember too damn much. Cut me some goddamn slack! I read it in like, grade 11. Do you remember Mother Tongue? That's what I thought.

I was going to review another, but I'm kinda tired and this post is long so I'll do some more reviews when I should be studying next week. If you have any requests for reviews send 'em in, but I don't think I've read anything written after 1990 (unless it's by Terry Pratchett). If you stick to the modern classics there's a better chance I've read it.
