materialism (i feel like i've used this title before)

today i discovered that the rip in the nice textured tights susan got me is not in a conspicuous place if i wear my mom's old knee-length pencil skirt, so i wore them to work. and a collared shirt! and even some perfume! wow! most of the time i just wear pants that are slightly nicer than casual pants by virtue of the fact that they are not jeans (corduroys, black jean-cut trousers, those crazy red pants i got at the salvation army four years ago) and one of my eight turtleneck sweaters. i actually have nine, but the red one has a really wide neck and is prone to showing my bra straps.

and last night i bought a hair straightener on ebay. (at work i mentioned this to will for some reason i can't remember, and we talked about it for a lot longer than i would have expected him to, given that he is male and straight.) i've always been wary of putting hot things on my hair because it is very fragile, and i'm too lazy to stand in one place with a blow dryer for five minutes anyway, but this one purports to have adjustable temperature settings. i think it will be faster and more effective than putting crew fiber in my hair every morning.

also, cherryzareyummy and i went to see ben folds as freshmen at ithaca, and now we are going to see him again in april! yaaaaaaay! for some reason getting tickets went like this, in very rapid succession: 1) i mentioned to alicia that we should get our tickets, 2) she got hers, 3) ticketmaster sold out, and 4) i tried to get mine and failed. i'm talking, like, under 24 hours. i did get one, but i had to purchase it on resale through stubhub and ended up paying twice what i would have paid before. i do have a job now, though, and freshman year we paid $20 and got ben, phantom planet, and the fray (this was before they were really big, and long before i got really really sick of them) all in one show. plus it was halloween, and at the concert i found out that my sister was pregnant with my nephew, so i think i'm paying for some of that awesomeness now.
