Thank you! My grandfather died of Alzheimer's a five years ago this December, and it was his birthday on July 2 and I wanted to do something to remember him. Hence the poem with lines like You can visit the marker on the grave/where your father wept openly. You can't bring back the dead and You can have your grandfather sitting on the side of your bed,/at least for a while and the quote about Alzheimer's/dementia at the end. So yes, thank you for noticing and for listening to me about my grandfather.

I REALLY like this. It seems like it could so easily swerve into being saccharine or trite but it keeps bringing in the unexpected instead.
