Thank you for asking. I will be studying Russian and Spanish while on a pre-med track. The other awesome thing that I can do at that university (or any of the others I applied to) is study Polish! I'm Polish and have been dreaming about studying the language in college.
That's cool, if you get the vocabulary down you could see patients without a medical interpreter. There was a pretty high demand for both Russian and Spanish where I used to live (Oregon).
That is exactly what I'm planning on doing! I've done some interpreting in Spanish for a pediatric ER and community health clinic and I've loved it. However, I can't see myself being an interpreter in a medical setting without being able to heal or at least try to do so.
Wow! I thought you'd say you were studying literature of course. I'd imagine your Polish studies will open up your life. It'll be wonderful to discover your heritage in this way. While I'm here, thankyou for your poetry posts.
Oh no, definitely not literature. I love reading poetry but the analysis of books is very difficult and unpleasant for me. I don't get any sort of great enjoyment from writing papers about symbolism and half the time, I feel people are making up what the authors "intended". So, no literature.
