Torchwood

In reference to the new audio episodes. I think I'm over it. Either that, or it's just that as much as I love Captain Jack (and JB), it's just not Torchwood without Owen, Tosh, and Ianto. Like Miracle Day wasn't really Torchwood, and even COE seemed to be the characters names played by the same actors, but actually different characters, if that ( Read more... )

Same here. It was never going to be the same once they killed off three of the five main characters. In my mind once they killed off Ianto that was the end for me. If there is no more Ianto, Tosh or Owen I can not find it in me to have anything to do with Torchwood even for Jack.

The fact that Gwen, the weakest and most pointless character that on any other show would have been the first to be killed managed to survive just made me hated the idea of more Torchwood without the other three. Torchwood lost what made it special when they killed off Ianto, Tosh and Owen.

Mind you, I'm pretty sure they'll use the whole team (either set in the past or something new, I'm not sure). I read the article and it said something about the screenwriter being delighted at the prospect to work with the whole cast and that it was all going to be 'intimate' and 'focused' on the characters. And GDL said that he was up for it, too, so I think it'll be all of them. Or, well, I hope so.

And something else I hope for? If this is a success (which it will be) I'm really, really hoping for a new season. Preferably with the entire cast in place, because it's never been a secret that MD had much lower ratings than any other TW series.

There's a post on Tumblr

janto-is-canon.tumblr.com

that only lists JB in the cast from the original torchwood.

There's some question on the post, though.

I assume you've heard by now that Gareth will read the second part? There are pictures of him in the studio as well. They announce them bit by bit, I am quite confident that the others will turn up as well. Gareth's is coming out in October already even, instead of having to wait till January as originally announced. And that he is second after John should tell us something ( ... )

This was labeled 'suspicious comment'??? Never saw that before. I had to 'unspam' it. The books were mostly a disappointment, so I'm hoping these turn out better. I know James Goss is doing Ianto's episode, and I've read he's a big fan, so I have high hopes.

It's because of the link. We used to have trouble with Russian Spammers on LJ so now they have gone over the top and mark any link as spam. I think you should be able to change it in your settings but please don't ask me where ( ... )

I'll have to nose around and see if I can find out how to change it, but friended you has fixed your comments at least.

I think the fandom will continue so long as there are fan fic writers out there, many who write much better stories than were ever broadcast or in the books. Just the popularity of the actors at the cons should be sending a message to whoever needs to know. And seriously, there is a SHRINE!!!! That should tell them something, right?

Also in general all the tourists that come to Cardiff just to see the shooting locations! We actually had a city walk tour with a very enthusiastic guide telling us lots of little things. He is so proud of his homecity. It was a great experience.

There are some really talented fic writers out there. I wonder for how long they can continue without any new input though. There's always a point when everything has been said and done.

(So, at the moment I am being unfaithful and discovering a new fandom. You might like some of my most recent action figure picture posts. As I am just experiencing the original Star Trek for the very first time in my life. I grew up in Eastern Germany, where we simply didn't have it on our TV screens)

But I swear I won't leave, this is just a little distraction and then I am back in full force ;)

Yep, seen the Star Trek ones, too. Liking them. The original Star Trek eps are soooo corny, but there was a lot of about tolerance, and the bad influence of religion, and how things change and get distorted and misinterpreted over time. A lot of philosophy, if you could get past the corn ( ... )

Yeah, this is what made me put it off for so long - of course I had gotten a glimpse here and there on TV, but I never liked much for example when they were all mind controlled and had to act weirdly - which they do a lot ( ... )

My favorite parts were always when the three of them were together around the captain's chair, snarking each other. They just seemed like real friends. I haven't seen the new movies, they don't feel like Star Trek at all, judging from the ads I've seen. And that guy who plays Chekov? Seriously ( ... )

Yes, the trio is just perfect. I also do like the rare scenes between Kirk and McCoy, where we can see that being the leader is sometimes difficult, when everyone expects answers from you which you cannot give ( ... )

Oops, it's only a bit after 9pm here. I know, John is so appreciative of his fans, unlike a lot of actors/performers who think fans are a burden. And the bizarre behaviour adds to the fun, right, although sometimes.... LOL He really is gorgeous, too. Really. I agree about the 100% thing.

I have never read any Stargate fanfic. Read some Due South. I loved that show, but can't find a lot of good fics.

I quite enjoyed this. Thank you. Have a good night.

But you have watched Stargate? It was the first fandom where I explored the internet, went to conventions, met all my friends. By reading fanfictions I learnt all my English. At first almost looking up every word, but now I can babble with the best of them. I may occassionally sound like snarky Jack O'Neill though, he had some great one-liners ( ... )

I watched every episode of Stargate. It was scifi Friday here. Stargate, Farscape, and another that completely escapes me. My friend John, would call me to tape them for him if he couldn't be home and sorry, guys, couldn't program his own vcr. Those were the days. LOL ( ... )
