Surrender & Resist

Sep 05, 2006 09:11

Do you ever feel that no matter how hard you try to resist the devil, you fail, or do you ever feel like giving up because you feel that you can't resist? If that's the way you've felt, I just want you to know, you're right. There is no way you can resist the devil.....alone.
That's why Jesus has offered to be your help. So often we are discouraged because we try so hard to resist in our own strength, when the whole time Jesus has been standing there, with his nail pierced hands extended to help us, if we'll only reach out and take his Hand, and let Him.
In our christian walk we are not told just to resist, though. James 4:7 says "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
There are two things that this verse is telling us to do. Submit, and resist. Submission is surrender. We have to fully surrender our lives to Christ-be willing to do anything and everything that He asks us to-before we can resist.
Once you have surrendered to God, remember that He is there for you, always; You're not fighting any battles alone, so long as you are surrendered to Him.
Every morning when you wake up, first thing, give it if all up to Him Give Him your life, and your day. As one song goes "I want to sign your name at the end of my day." Ask Him to be with you, and help you live a day that will honor Him, on that He can sign His name at the end of.
You will have struggles, but every time those trials come, don't let go of Christ. He'll help you make it through those times.
Just remember: Surrender and Resist.
