This... is an exceptionally thoughtful piece. I'm honestly uncertain as to how it makes me feel, and I really like that feeling.

I'm glad to hear that, especially as it occurs to me that I'm not certain how one should feel when reading this piece. I'm not sure even Fraser knows ;)

Still loving that twist with the hypothermia :)

Outside he can see the streets of Chicago, lit up not by streetlights, but by the northern lights in the clear sky overhead.
Lovely imagery. As kalijean says, a very thoughtful piece that stirs up a confusion of emotions. Very nice :)

I like the twist as well, though I stole it from Jodi Picoult.

And that light image is one of my faves as well; I love it when one just hits you and fits right into a fic.

Thank you. :D It made me very thinky when podfic_lover left me the prompt, and I'm glad it translated well.

Oh, this is brilliant! I love your metaphysical interpretation of the prompt, it definitively gives a lot of food for thought.

If he were home he would find a way to assuage his feelings in the openness, but here, surrounded by the architecture, it just seems to return to him, no matter how far he tries to chase it away. This sentence in particular resonates in me, as I too seek peace and perspective during wilderness hikes.

Thank you so much! <3

TYK; I'm so glad that the symbolism works in the story. It was a challenging prompt but this kind of sprouted organically.
