Another one! The final part of "birthday week"...

Friday was like the longest day ever. On Wednesday, the morning of my colonoscopy, I got the one-week-out reminder on my phone that I have a regular GP appointment THIS Wednesday. So that meant I had to do fasting bloodwork, which I was unwilling to do RIGHT after colonoscopy day, so I did it Friday. Got up, skipped the walk and breakfast, went to the LabCorp, and let them take a few vials. So I left my house by like 6:55 a.m. And after work I went to Wegmans for a few things/to kill time and then to OBIC for the annual YRUU service-planning overnight. I didn't have to stay overnight (thank gods), but we did have to run the kids through two full run-throughs of their service for Sunday. Then at 11 p.m. I left, went to Laurel to get Tripp, and then we didn't get home until, like, about midnight. Seriously SO TIRED by the time we got home, I fed the cats and just collapsed into bed.

Until about 10 a.m. or so. I read for a while but by 11 I was just too hungry, so I got up to make breakfast. I did that, then noodled online, read some stuff for Sunday, then finally went to check in on Tripp who was still asleep. We eventually, slowly, both got moving and showered and stuff, and then we headed into DC to browse Eastern Market. Or rather, the street vendors outside, who were shutting down well ahead of 6 p.m., which I didn't realize they didn't stay out there the whole time the actual market was open. Oops! I got a birthday gift for my SiL and cards for her and my nephew, but no gift for him. We wandered a bit and went to Labyrinth Games, where I contemplated but did not yet purchase a Go set. Then we hit the 7-11 and meandered back to the Metro and home. Once there, I started the oven right away - I had the traditional family German chocolate cake to bake for birthdays. I got the cake in the oven then made dinner (chicken tikka masala, though I also threw in chickpeas to make the recipe stretch a bit), then made the frosting and assembled the cake. After all that it was like 11:30...except freaking Spring Forward.

Let's just say 6 a.m. came VERY EARLY on Sunday. Ugh. Like, I was SO deeply asleep when the alarm went off, I just felt cheated. Anyway: still got moving in time. Some days I feel like a shark: stop moving and EVERYTHING STOPS. But: I kept moving. =D Up, breakfast, shower, drive Tripp home, off to church to teach OWL at 9:00 and enjoy the youth service at 11:00, then off to Home Depot for a gift card for my nephew and then to my brother's house for a nice birthday lunch with cake and hours of conversation. Hooray!

Left around 5:30, got groceries, went home. Ate a small supper and went to bed early, the end. WHUF. Got almost 8 hours' sleep last night but my schedule still feels off.

birthday, weekend
