It was a lovely weekend out in Berkeley Springs, WV with friends. And then I came home and got my new computer set up! And now I am on eternal hold with Verizon to cancel my @)#($* cable.
I left the office a bit early on Friday, but had so much running around to do that I didn't get on the road to WV until 4:30. As a consequence, it took two hours to get there (it's usually around 90 minutes). I met up with Telf and we had dinner at Ambrae House. Then back to the house, where Christine and Katherine arrived in due time, then we hung out in the hot tub. Woo!
Saturday, sleeping, breakfast, a walk to the state park to make an appointment for the Roman baths. Then back to the house and everyone went to town together. ("Walking to town" from the rental takes like a minute.) We shopped, picked out some wines, had some lunch. Generally it was pleasant and relaxing. We eventually went back to the house and changed into swimsuits, then went to the Roman baths. Which were awesome. And sauna-like. It was a relief to step out into the 80-something-degree air and dip our toes straight in the spring. Back to the house to change out of swimsuits. We did varying things (walking, napping) until it was time to go to dinner at Panorama at the Peak.
Man, I love that place. Amazing sunset views and delicious, locally, humanely sourced food. I ate a crap ton of it. Then we went home and drank wine and watched the RiffTrax of 300 which was pretty hilarious. I was falling asleep, though.
Sunday, got up and Christine and Katherine left first. I took too long showering and made Telf rush, but we got out of the house by noon (which was when we had to be out). Idly shopped a little in town then I hit the road. I stopped at the Roy Rogers in Hagerstown, because even though there is one in Burtonsville now, it is something I only eat as a treat. Like when I'm on the road out west on Rt. 70! I got home by 3 p.m., got the place cleaned a bit, changed out the catboxes, and set up my new computer. Also two loads of laundry! Then I noodled around on the new computer, ate a really small dinner, wrote a blog post, and went to bed.
I have now been on hold to Verizon for twenty-two minutes. Geez.
