Yes, I had a lovely time, thank you!

It was a delightful

Friday night I had to run a few errands because I had a busy Saturday planned. By the time I got home, I basically made dinner and settled in to watch some TV (catching up on the DVR, as per usual). I think I was in bed by 10:30. Ahh.

Got up around 8:30 on Saturday morning because I had a big day planned! tzel and msteleute and I had plans for brunch and a trip to So Botanicals, where for the first time I was going to do the "create a custom scent thing." I got up and showered and in fact managed to be completely, entirely on time, arriving at the time I wanted to. Woo, go me! (It is surprisingly difficult for me to time things like this correctly.) We met up in the rain and drear with hopes it might clear up later, which eventually it did! Eventually. Anyway, we headed up to the Inner Harbor and had brunch at Tir Na Nog, with a lovely view of the U.S.S. Constellation. The food was delicious and our waitress was excellent. With our 11:30 a.m. reservations we also beat all the crowds. After a leisurely brunch we headed out, but not without a stop at the Swatch store. I'd seen it on the way in and was all, "There are still Swatch stores? There are still Swatches? Awesome!"

Let me tell you right now that when I was a kid, I really wanted a Swatch. My parents, being quite thrifty, did not oblige me in that department. (I did have not one but two Swatch knock-offs, which I wore together. I was so trendy. Actually I was ahead of the trend, as most people just looked at me like I was some kind of bug, and said, "Why are you wearing two watches at the same time?!") I do not hold this against them in any way, but boy howdy did that Swatch store set me off. Telf and Pam kindly indulged me, and when we went into the store we were informed that there were some watches available at 40% off. OH REALLY? It will surprise no one, after all that build-up, that I got one of the ones on sale. A Swatch for the price of an inexpensive Timex? Sure! It has a cat on it. I am so predictable.

We left the mall and went back out into the rain and drear, but at least we were well-fed and, in my case, carrying a small piece of childhood wish-fulfillment. We motored over to Federal Hill and hit the boutique. It was a fascinating experience! I'm not as into scents and related products the way some of my friends are, but I have several that I like, and of late I've been really bored with them. After hours of sniffing, I have a perfume that I really like that is different from all the ones I'm bored with, which is ideal. And I bought some soaps, because I am a sucker for soap. Afterward, we walked around Federal Hill for a while because it was finally clearing up! Hooray! We mainly just wandered, we did go through the Cross St. Market and into a few little stores. We paused outside Illusions, the magic club (website warning: frames! Aiiee, 1998 HTML, noo!), and the manager came out and offered to give us a tour, which we took. It seems potentially really cool, with a room in back that is rentable for parties, so I am sure there will be more investigation on that front later.

Eventually we drove over to the Baltimore Cupcake Co only to find that they were sold out! Guess there was a pre-Easter cupcake rush, or something. From there we headed home, where we got together with necrocannibal and thatwhichisgene, and we hit the Frisco Grille for dinner. Love! Though, more crowded and noisier than usual, because I'm not used to going on a Saturday evening. We were early enough, though, that there was no wait for a table or anything. It was delicious, as per usual. After dinner Telf and Gene headed home and Lars and Pam and I headed up to Ellicott City and Bean Hollow. Yum! After all that, I went back to their place for a tiny bit of TV, but I left by like 10:30 or so. It had been a long day!

At home, hung out with the cats for a bit but I didn't stay up too late. Got up around 10:30 the next morning and, yes, managed to be a little late for Easter Mass. Doh. Well, I wasn't alone in that one, boy howdy. It was a nice service. One perk to going alone is, it was possible to find a seat even in the huge crowd. Afterward, I ran a few errands. I took my time instead of the usual rush, since I wasn't going to my folks'. I sort of managed to forget that a lot of places close for Easter, oops. I had a prescription I had to get filled, so I tried out the Harris Teeter. Success! Now I'm all set for my colonoscopy on Friday. WHEE.

Anyway, once I had all my errands run, I headed home. I started one load of laundry, stripped the bedlinens, and started a load of sheets and towels. I got into jammies basically by 5 p.m. I practiced guitar, I caught up on the intertubes a little, I talked to John on the phone, and I watched a honkload of TV (more DVR catching up!). I was alarmed to see that American Idol ran over and slopped into Fringe a lot, so I watched the last ten minutes on Hulu. Hooray! Eventually I went to bed and then got up this morning and there you have it.

Yep, so, it's a four-day work week, but I have Friday off to have the biennial colon-scope, so it's not like that will exactly be a treat. On Saturday, though, my mom and sister-in-law and I are going out to Berkeley Springs for a spa day, so that is something to look forward to! Really it's Thursday that will be the rough day. Stupid prep is way, way worse than the procedure.
