I have a Twilight movie review; Yes I am 36 years old; no I am not crazy.

So.

There was this 10 a.m. showing of Twilight on the super-cheap at the AMC by my home, and while I refused to plan to go to it, it just so happened that I woke up in time to make it.

Wow, that was awesome. It was a great adaptation of the book. See, the thing is, it's not like the books are that good. They're cheesy and fun. So is the movie. And - here is a very important bit - in the movie you do not have to deal with Stephenie Meyers' deathless prose. Also, the nature of "movie time" and the way everything rushes into another, the leap from "Oh, look, a good looking guy" to "I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER YOU ARE MY ENTIRE LIFE, SEXY VAMPIRE DUDE" is a little easier to take. (Not really easy, but either you buy into this part of the cheese or you don't - and if you do, it totally works in the movie.)

One thing I will say very decidedly in its favor in a non-silly way is the casting. The supporting cast of teenagers actually seemed to act like teenagers when given the chance. The Cullens were all cast quite well (the guy playing Jasper is just too perfect; same with Peter Facinelli as Carlisle) and I hope they make the sequels just to see them expand those characters' stories. The leads are also very well cast. I heard a number of teen-aged girls leaving the theater talking about how they were going to buy the DVDs and watch it "over and over." Robert Pattinson, prepared to be stalked for a long, long time.

Basically it comes down to: if you like the books, I bet you'll love the movie. If you love the books, to perhaps an unhealthy degree, you might have more nits to pick than I, but for me it totally worked. If you don't like/have no interest in the books, I have no idea why on earth you would want to bother with this.
