This morning I went to put my sandwich in the fridge and to get a cup of ice for my every-morning Cherry Coke Zero, and I was surprised and pleased to notice there was already a pot of decaf coffee made. So early! That almost never happens! How funny, it was already half-gone too, someone must have been very eager to....
OR, that was yesterday morning's coffee.
UGH PTUI UGH PBBTH BLEAH!
Interestingly, after writing
yesterday's entry, I got home to find the latest newsletter from
Alley Cat Allies. National Feral Cat day is October 16! They have some materials available that I may get to post in our mailroom at the apartment. So far the management and maintenance people have been very understanding about the cats, but I've also avoided approaching them directly so as not to cause undue waves. At some point, though (definitely before I move), I'll have to talk to them, maybe even give them the vet records on the six mainstays that have been through the TNR program.
Also, this morning, I petted Smudgy for the first time! She looked mildly alarmed, but kept eating. Buttercup was also there, and he took one can of food all to himself, while Little Dude and Smudgy shared the other one. Simon looked on warily as I walked away, and Stumpy appears to have given up. Poor Stumpy. I hope the other cats don't give him a hard time 'cause he only has half a tail.
Last night, excellent dinner with
snidegrrl and
tzel and
zarobi and two of their friends! (Next time, Ethiopian?!) When I got home, there was, yes you guessed it, another cat I'd never seen before poking at the remnants of whatever was on the curb. He also appeared not to have all of his tail, but he darted away before I could really get a look.
One morning this week I walked to my car after feeding the cats and found a dead mouse next to it. How did they know!?
