Holy crow it's cold.

Seriously, when the weather people tell you it is eleven degrees out there, they are not kidding. Do not mess with them. Eleven. Now it's moved up to a relatively balmy 13, however. Dear Canadian friends: yeah, I know. I'm a wussy. I can deal with that.

Probably not, but here it is anyway!

Friday night I did, in fact, decide to hit Cloverfield with mephisto21 and some of his posse. It was pretty good. I enjoyed it. I could totally have waited until a matinee, and would have loved it if the idiot children sitting in front of us would have stopped texting through the whole damn thing, but the fact was that the opportunity presented itself, and so I took it. Fortunately it was an early enough show that I was still home by not long after 9 p.m. Puttered around at home a bit, talked to salami_salome on the phone for a little while, went to bed not too late.

Slept a nice long time, until about 10 a.m. on Saturday. I tried to get myself in gear quick enough to get to the Laurel Aamco before noon, but that didn't happen. My "check engine" light appears on to stay this time, not just coming on in the rain and going off when it's dry. So I'll try that at lunch today. But, yes, failed at that on Saturday. I did get a run to Target in, and one to Trader Joe's. Then home again, where I practiced guitar and watched some more Season 2 Grey's Anatomy from netflix. Eventually I realized that I should probably get off my ass and make some plans if I intended to leave my home that evening.

Got S_S to agree to go to see Atonement with me at the Old Greenbelt theater, where it's been playing for weeks and I keep slacking off about seeing it. I also had a hankerin' for Greek food, so we planned to meet up and head down to Marathon Deli in College Park before the show. We wrangled msteleute and necrocannibal into going to dinner with us, if not the movie. We got there and...the place was closed! I guess they wanted a night off before the spring semester started? I don't know! We went to Plato's instead. Oh, College Park. So many things change, so many things stay the same. The food was a little disappointing but we had a nice time anyway. Then we said our goodbyes and S. and I went off to the movie. Which, yes, was really well done. The theater was a bit cold, but once I realized and nestled down under my coat, I was fine. Afterward we went back to her place and hung out chatting a little, but I was yawning a lot and needed to get gas on the way home, so I took off. I was home and asleep by around 2? Mere moments later, I was out like a light. *zzz*

Sunday morning I had a terminal case of the lazies and skipped church. I did my last bits of grocery shopping and came home and put stuff away. Then I cleaned the bathroom and vacuumed, and practiced guitar. Then I went to my folks', who decided to spend some of their Olive Garden gift cards on me, which was sweet. But can someone please explain to me why there was a 45-minute wait at 4:55 p.m. on Big Football Playoff Sunday? Shouldn't everyone have been at home or in some sports bar? It was crazy there, but we eventually got seated (and it actually wound up being only about a 35-minute wait) and the food was tasty. I didn't eat a ton of pasta and I didn't feel full or gross when I left. So of course when I headed home I called NC and MsT and made them go out and get dessert. We headed to the Victoria's Gastro Pub again, which was awesome, again. Then home, and sleep, and here I am.

This morning I got down to the fitness room in the basement of my apartment building and saw a note posted there that the room will be closed for renovations starting...tomorrow! Wow, thanks for the notice, guys. I called them this morning to check, they say it'll be closed for about two weeks. Which...hunh. I think I'm going to mainly rely on the On Demand "fitness" choices and the nine flights of stairs between me and the ground floor. Because this week? With the eleven degrees this morning and stuff? Is NOT the week for me to start running outside. Hells no. Not to mention the fact that I get up 2.5 hours before sunrise and am not keen about going around in the dark. It is irritating because I am actually turning into one of those people who looks forward to my morning workout. And now I'll have to change it all up and can't just zone out to the iPod. Ah well. It's just a few weeks, and the place really is kind of a dump so I'm glad they're fixing it up.
