Last night I went to bed praying for snow, so that the government would close and I could have an extra day to laze about, clean the house some, and do massive amounts of online Christmas shopping.
Awaking at 5 a.m. I looked outside. Pfft! So much for three to six inches! Well, I mean. We did get three, maybe. But I always have expectations for the higher end of the scale. The higher end of the scale bodes better for staying home, too. I called the OPM hotline. Two hour delay! Cool! So I fed the cats (no way they'd leave me alone after I got up and faked 'em out like that) and hopped back into bed until 7 a.m.! The luxury!
At 7 a.m., snow was falling prettily.
At 7:15 a.m., snow was no longer falling.
At 7:45 a.m., the time I was outside pushing heavy wet snow off my car, the sun was shining brightly, and within 15-20 minutes there wasn't a cloud left in the sky. Weird!
The drive was completely without incident or difficulty. Oh, I did have to get gas, and popped my tank only to find it iced over, so I had to chip that out. Other than that? Nothing! Except for once on a Friday I am well-rested, and I didn't drive in in the pitch dark.
Got vast majority of Christmas shopping done online this morning. Online ordering, never leave me. At lunch: cards. Some of these go overseas this year, so I guess I can't avoid the Post Office entirely. Alas. Low on stamps anyway, need festive ones!
To get in the mood, listening to Christmas albums (MANY, MANY Christmas albums) my brother gave me for importation into iTunes. I have so. much. Christmas music. Fortunately most of it is pleasing. I don't know about this Chicago Christmas album though. That one might have to go.
