The latest events had been nothing short of one of Mayfield's or "Lucy"'s sideshow acts. Undoubtedly, it had filled several of the residents with some sense of hope of getting out of this place and they played right into the enemy's hands and had little to show for it. The whole thing had been a farce from the beginning

[By some twist of irony, the very person he was supposed to be avoiding happened to also be whiling away his time at the library. Should he be approached it was not as if Ciel wouldn't reply, for now he's just aware of the others presence and flipping through a book.]

[Johan does notice him.]

Waiting for Nina?

[He nodded and placed the book to the side. It seemed that a conversation was unavoidable.]

[The responses were short and the air seemed to grow heavier. Rather than simply letting it settle back into an awkward silence he asked a follow up question.]

Do you always come to see her after work?

[hungry_monster]

No. But I try to come whenever I can.

Apparently, today is one of those days.

[Admittedly, Ciel was naturally curious about the atrocities that Nina eluded to, or at least what Johan was capable of. Unfortunately, that wasn't a subject easily broached in a casual conversation.]

What sort of place did you and your sister come from..?

We're from Germany.

[Germany, was hardly descriptive considering a person could be dragged from any point in time. It did however narrow down the possible dates]

What was the year?

I believe it was 1992.

Well I suppose I could be off by a year or so. But I don't believe I am.

[Nah, he's just being vague.]
