Jessica Simpson and John Mayer were outed as an item, supposedly to the delight of Jessica's dad. But wait! Stop the press! Turns out Jessica Simpson's publicist is a pathological liar who made the whole thing up. The publicist was duly sacked and we wonder whether this is the first time a publicist has been fired for being untruthful.
Thank you
News MSN.
I'm not relieved that Jess and John aren't dating (I could care less, actually); as far as I'm concerned, people are free to do what they wish and, in particular, if John had discovered the "smart" side to Jessica, no fan or outsider would have known. Therefore, I'm not in the position to judge someone I don't know for their choice in romance. I'm also in no position to care.
We've also in the position that we cannot trust our own media. People lie , twist, deceive and manipulate the truth and the facts in order to get a story, a headline. The whole affair wasn't something I really care about. I don't know, it taught me a lesson. From now on, I will be more perceptive about what is said in newspaper, televisions and media outlets. I won't get sucked it. This has just shown me how ignorant I was in my belief. Then again, this little claim above could be a lie too. It's best not to care - so, what can we trust? What can't we trust?
and when you trust your television
what you get is what you got
cause when they own the information, oh
they can bend it all they want
-- John Mayer, Waiting on the World to Change
How ironic.
I'm wondering whether this stunt had anything to do with the due release of both Jessica and John's albums. After all, John himself hasn't released a studio album in 3 years - he could be wanting publicity worldwide. Jessica could use her relation to John as a testament to audiences that she isn't as dumb as he looks. Either way, this "love" stunt could be nothing more than a way to diverge attention to themselves.
:S
