1) Total number of books owned?
I'm not sure but they fill one medium bookcase and a couple of big plastic storage containers under my bed.
2) The last book I bought?
I think it was Dan Brown's 'Angels and Demons'. I just remember thinking it excessively violent and rather silly but it does inform one on what the great unwashed is being fed about my Church.
3) The last book I read?
I always read several books at once which my mother sees as a great character fault. I've been reading Lily Brett's essays, a great deal of Sherlock Holmes, 'Fabulous Creatures and Magical Beings', 'The Quest for the True Cross' and 'Reviving Ophelia' - a book about the challenges facing girls in modern society.
4) Five books that mean a lot to me?
So hard to choose!
a. 'Mere Christianity' by C.S. Lewis was fundamental to the development of my faith. I can't remember the apologetics now but I remember thinking how well it wove together the half thoughts in my head into a solid expression of what I believed.
b. 'The Never-Ending Story' by Michael Ende. In my opinion it is the definitive fantasy fiction. It is the perfect example of its genre and the closest thing I've ever seen to the perfect (fictional) story.
c. Anything by Philip Yancey. Apart from C.S. Lewis, was the author who has by far had the greatest influence on my faith and relationship with God.
d. A detailed biography of St Bernadette of Lourdes. This book showed me who she was and why God chose her. I wish I was more like her - she was extraordinary.
e. I guess the Bible really is one book that I would hate to be without for any length of time. I don't actually notice how often I get it out to look up passages but it's more often than I probably realise. I take it for granted and almost didn't include it but that would be dishonest - I'd be a bit lost without it.
5) Tag 5 people and have them fill this out on their LJs:
