1. Leave me a comment saying you want to do the meme.
2. I'll respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. You should update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You should include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.
1. How are you adjusting to the changes in your life?
I think I'm doing as well as can be expected. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with trying to remain a good employee at work while also being a single parent (time is the biggest factor - the daycare has strict hours, I work 45-60 minutes away, and I am taking Jack to/from daycare 4 days a week), giving so much energy to therapy and trying to set aside time for myself, as well. I've had to scale back on all of my commitments, and most of the time I end up failing at least a little bit at everything. I'm exhausted and broke and stressed about the people I've inadvertently alienated because I don't have the energy to work on damage control. In the end, though, I made these decisions and I'm willing to walk this path to end up in a better place. In the mean time, I'm just tired tired tired.
2. What was your favorite color when you were a child, and is it still your favorite?
For a while as a child my favorite color was red because it was my dad's favorite color. But somewhere along the way (when I really got into coloring) I decided Midnight Blue was my favorite color. It has expanded to include just about every shade of blue (minus baby blue) as I've grown into adulthood.
3. Which year in your life was the hardest, and why?
Hands down - the year I miscarried (2005). Everything felt completely out of control, even my own body. Every emotion I had every held back surged forward and I was terrified that I was going crazy. I couldn't make simple decisions and that damaged my self-esteem badly. I grieved so many things all at once, and I know now that was a huge turning point in my life. That whole process made me stronger and really healed me in a lot of ways, but I felt like I had to start my life over in a lot of ways. I firmly believe a lot of my recent decisions were rooted in the things I went through that year.
4. If you could have any animal, domestic or wild, as a pet (it would love and obey you, whatever it is), what would it be?
A lynx, I think. They are so cool!
5. What alternative career would you choose if yours suddenly ceased existing?
Geez, I have no idea. I guess I'd have to go back to school. *dread* My inclination would be to go into editing.
