Title: Forget me not (except you did)
Rating: let's say PG-13
Pairing(s): HaeWook, as in Donghae/Ryeowook *GASP* variety omg, also, others that I'll introduce as I introduce the characters.
Summary: Donghae's been missing from a whole month, he doesn't remember anything, not even his dreams. He knows something's missing but everything keeps slipping off his minds. Don't worry, he has help, and together they'll uncover the secret behind this puzzle, or you know, end up in the stomach of a dragon. kind of fairy tale AU.
Warnings: AU!, un-betaed nonsense, violence, non-humans everywhere but you already know that's how i roll, language, my terrible sense of humor. HEECHUL.
A/N: I am so so so so sorry for not updating or wrting at all, I've been dying to, but I got back to uni and this semester has been really something else in terms of works and such, so I've barely had time to sleep and eat lol.
This story is a late birthday present for

“Tell me, do you love me? “
“You saved me.”
“That wasn’t the question.”
“You’re beautiful.”
Laughter.
“That wasn’t the question either, although you should be careful; there are creatures whose beauty is blinding when
bathed in the blood of the still beating heart of their human lovers.”
“You aren’t like that.”
“Are you sure?”
“You saved me!”
“That means nothing.”
“That means everything.”
“I’ve seen mermaids saving sailors from certain death only to feed on their flesh and pain for weeks”
“You aren’t a mermaid.”
“I’m no human either.”
“Mermaids and beasts have no souls.”
More laughter.
“What makes you think I have one?”
“You could have left me to die, but you didn’t, you saved me, you were kind to me when you needn’t to.”
Silence.
“What do you want from me?”
“Anything, everything.”
“Do you want me to love you?”
“Yes.”
“To kiss you, to hold you?”
“Yes.”
Again, silence.
“I can’t do that.”
“Because I’m human?”
“Because when you wake up you won’t remember.”
~~~~~~~~
On the first morning of winter, Donghae woke up with a heavy heart from a dreamless night.
He wasn’t in his room; the bed was in the wrong place, the walls had the wrong color, the widow showed the wrong view, even the smell was wrong.
“Oh good, you’re awake.” A skinny guy with black hair, pretty features and bearer of an overall bored aura looked at him making clear that to him it was exactly the same that Donghae had woken up or not.
“Where am I?” His voice sounded weird, rough, unused, he was thankful that a glass of water was on the nightstand on his left, he drank eagerly while he waited for the answer, the pretty guy looked at Donghae frowning.
“You’re worse than I thought; do you even know your own name?”
“Oh fuck off, Heechul, I’m just asking where I am, as every sane person would ask when they wake up in an unknown place.” Heechul sighed while approaching Donghae and snatching the glass of water ignoring the protests from the younger.
“Mind your language, you impertinent child, and no I don’t care if you’re tired and in a bad mood, and I don’t care if you’ve suffered a traumatic experience during this last month, you will respect your elders, and by your elders I mean me.”
“OK, OK, I’m sorry your high- Wait a month?! What do you mean with the last month? I was with you and my brother yesterday…what are you talking about?” Heechul looked at Donghae with genuine worry this time.
“You mean you don’t remember?”
“Remember what?”
“Donghae, a month ago you disappeared, we couldn’t find you anywhere, we were losing hope, you should have seen your brother’s face” Heechul sighed “then, last night, you appeared unconscious on the floor right in front of the medical house, you’re in one of the rooms of the house, by the way.” The older sat on the edge of Donghae’s bed looking at him with a serious expression. “Are you sure you don’t remember anything?”
Donghae nodded “I just remember running back home to change clothes, I remember falling into the river while playing with some kids… are you sure it’s been a month?” it was Heechul’s turn to nod.
“We counted every day you were gone.” He smiled kindly at his younger friend “I’m glad you’re back, you can’t imagine how weird is looking at your brother without that stupid smile on his face.”
“And not answering to your creepy advances with some extreme blushing also made you upset, I imagine.” Heechul replied with eloquently hitting Donghae with a pillow “Hey! Hey! I’m a patient; you should be a nice nurse and take care of me!” the older snorted.
“You’re hardly a patient and I’m hardly a nurse.” He hit Donghae with the pillow again only because he could. “Now try to sleep some more, I’m getting you some food and I guess your brother would like to know you’ve awoken so I’m getting him too.”
“Heechul?” Donghae called to the older just before he left the room making him stop and turn to see his friend with a raised eyebrow “Are you sure I’m OK?” He received a kind smile.
“You’re here, Donghae, that’s all that matter, we’ll work out the rest. Now try to sleep, I’ll be back in no time."
And Donghae slept, his dreams plagued with brown eyes both warm and cold, both full of love and full of hatred, soft kind hands stained with blood, sweet smiles turned in deathly fanged growls. All forgotten, all left behind.
His heart ached, but he was sure he didn’t dream.
He never dreamed.
