There were a couple bands set to play Pella's monthly "Friday After Five" celebration downtown in the Molengracht Plaza Friday night. I wanted to get out and do something so I went down there. It was threatening rain, so the bands moved to the local bar. I should have known better, but determined to see the bands "Mister Slate" and "Screaming Peas" I persisted.
I totally should have gone home. I couldn't make it through the first band. 50 Yr old guys in leather playing Metallica and Kiss covers while bar fly broads danced on the dance floor as if they were listening to club music is not my idea of fun. They did mix in some originals. The most memorable line is "MEAN.....WHAT YA SAY....SAY WHAT YOU MEAN WHEN YOU SAY IT TO ME!" the music was mysteriously similar to "Ride the Lightning."
The rest of the weekend was good. Got some work done around the house...cleaned out the garage. Lisa bought a bike. I usually let Natalie win when we play video games, but I beat Natalie once at Mortal Kombat and she through a fit and kicked me. Maybe kids do act out violence they see in the media.
I don't stumble across too much new music that I like, but I encourage you all to check out the new Wilco album...pure summer day ecstacy.
