...ages 3+ (or bright kids like Astrid on the cusp of 3), may I enthusiastically suggest Richard Scarry's Busy Town board game. We got it from my mother for Christmas and it is a hit. It's big and bright. It involves elements of timed games, board games, eye spy games, and winning. Except with the winning - everyone plays as a team, so everyone wins or loses together. You play against pigs who eat all your picnic food. The board is 6 feet long, so kids have to move their bodies. Rounds last about 10 minutes. It's FANTASTIC. My kids have been playing together all day long. It's genius, guys.
