I thought about waiting another week and then it would have almost been an entire month since I had last updated, but ah well. It took forever for that last illness to go away, and then two Fridays ago I woke up early to study for my first speech final, but I threw up about 5 times. Luckily I haven't been sick since.
School is going well so far. I haven't gotten back that speech test but that's because I took it the next Monday and so he didn't hand back my test with everyone else's. That morning I also did my first real speech and got a B on it, so I'm happy. In Spanish apparently other people aren't doing so hot. Before she handed back the last test, she prefaced it with "Some of you may need a tutor, you guys need to study more, etc" and I got a 95 on it! I got an A- on my first ethics essay and I've been making A's on all of the quizzes. I got a 93 on the first theology test and I think I did well on the second one that we're getting back on Thursday.
P.O.D. was #1 on TRL on Thursday! However today we fell to #4, grr. It's their fourth video to hit #1 on TRL.
Yesterday was my Mom's 58th birthday and I went home for a few to see her. I got her a book by Thomas Merton, who seems like a cool guy. I'm going to have to borrow the book from her at some point. My Dad got a new cell phone so we played around with that some. Then we discussed my future plans. My Dad really wants me to get an internship this summer and I think that would be cool too. Originally we thought of me going to Heifer International in Little Rock, Arkansas, but recently I've started thinking that I don't want to go all the way out there all by myself all summer, so now I'm trying to find something around Metro ATL, however no luck so far. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let me know!
Last Thursday there was the annual chili cook-off, and Stephanie won first for vegetarian! Never mind we were the only ones in the category, haha. But it was really good chili, seriously. Right after that we ran to the Tabernacle and saw Matisyahu. It was sold out and there were a million tall people smoking and drinking beer, so we stood on the second level in order to see decently enough. Stephanie's older sister was at the show too but we weren't able to find her and she had to leave before it was over so I didn't get to meet her.
Been reading Romans in Greek and it's really cool. I haven't found too many things that are mind-boggling but it's still awesome. When I went home yesterday I remembered to get my copy of George Muller's autobiography so I'm going to have to start reading it again because it is AMAZING!
Next semester's schedule could be amazing. So far all that I know of is
MW: senior thesis @ 3:30-4:45
TH: The Prophets @ 9:30, Buddhist philosophy @ 2
I need to take Spanish 200 (last Spanish class) but the only one that fits in my schedule is with a bad professor, so I guess I'll just have to wait until next spring, which I know isn't good, but I'm going to forget it all over the summer anyway... a few more months won't be too bad. But with this schedule I need one more class to make me a full-time student, so I'm thinking of doing a directed study, where I'd just read books and write essays on a topic I pick, and then I'd get credit for a class. So this could be amazing- NOTHING on Fridays, M & W won't start until 3:30, and then a 3 hour break in the middle of each TH class. Don't get me wrong, it will be a TON of work because I'll be doing my "directed study" stuff AND writing my senior thesis during those open times, but at least I'll have a big open schedule and will be able to perhaps get a bit more sleep than my usual 6 hours a night- maybe I'll even get 7 hours per night!
Now my problem is coming up with the class idea, and soon. I'm toying with the idea of doing Christian eschatology- the study of the end times. I'd study Biblical & theological texts, what people believe about the end times, etc. I think it may work, we'll see. Let me know if you have any suggestions!
Oh and what's really exciting is that we figured out the rooming situation for next year! We're going to try for a townhouse supersuite (which is a 6 person townhouse but only 4 people in it, which means you turn the extra bedroom into a living room) with these really cool girls named Liz Reinhart and Kathleen Betsill. We all talked for an hour and discovered that we'll probably get along well. All of us prefer the dorm all nice and warm, so that'll rock, we're all fairly clean and stay home almost every weekend. I'm excited.
Love all of y'all and God bless all of y'all!
