I'm so irked. So irked I had to write about it in LJ. And when does that happen? Not very often.
I was brushing my teeth this evening, and my mom was watching the news. I hate the news. They were telling some story about how a chihuahua was killed by the dog next door.
Everyone knows pit bulls can be scary dogs. Yes. What everyone doesnt know, is that they can be the best dogs. They JUST have to be raised right. What I heard on the news: "The police department has had many issues with pitbull attacks recently in the antelope valley... they have had to shoot 3 dogs in the last 2 weeks." Ok, what do you think they mean by issues? Crazy mean pits running around biting everything they see? I bet these cops didn't even think. I bet the pits were just walking down the street, and the cops got scared and shot them. Something like that happened not too long ago.. A guy was playing with his dog in the park, off leash. The cop told the guy to put his dog on a leash, but didn't even give him half a chance. Shot the dog 3 times, or something crazy like that. No need.
The worst part of this news story tonight, was that the chihuahua wasnt even killed by a pit. It was a boxer. The news just felt it necessary to throw the pit bull name out there. As if they didnt already have a bad enough rep. Lets say how bad pits are.. and then tell a sad story.. making sure to get a close up on the little boy who lost his chihuahua.
People will start hating pits and wont even know why.
I see the breed ban coming from a mile away. I don't even own a pit(anymore) but if they ban them, I'm outta here.

I'm not sure who I want to hit more. People who hate pits(or any breed) without knowing anything about them... or the people who dont train their dogs right- and end up just confirming the fears the haters have.
