Car update
Thanks for the responses. It is basically a free tow (although you only get a certain # of free incidents per year, I can't imagine going over) so that did seem like the way to go.
I called AAA at 11:36; they said the towing company would be there by 12:06. About noon, the guy showed up and mentioned that they wouldn't be able to get it to my mechanic immediately because they're short a driver and have other calls to make. Shrug. After he finished securing the car and drove off I went back into the house and heard the phone ringing. It was an automated AAA system. "This is a status update -- the service provider will be at your location within 10 to 15 minutes." Heh.
