I drove over to our colo today to rack a couple machines we'd pulled for maintenance -- it's a couple streets over in the same business park. I had to wait for a slow-moving car to pass before I could pull out of our driveway, and as we went down our street, it became clear they were lost because they were going slowly, stopping at some points, etc. I wasn't in any hurry, and I figured they'd pull over soon since there was plenty of street parking. But no, they got to the end of the street (a T intersection) and turned left.
I had to wait for some traffic on the main road before I could also turn left, and I saw they were repeating the same pattern going down this street. One of the cars now in between us got tired of this and passed them (the street is two lanes in each direction but just barely wide enough for this to be non-dangerous) and since we both had our windows down I figured I'd go against character and try to be helpful. I stopped alongside them.
Me: What building are you looking for?
Driver: Oh, we're not, we're just driving around.
Me: Oh, ok.
I didn't say anything further to them, but sheesh.
Speaking of driving, a friend's son, whom I have known since he was 7, took his driving test today. Man, I'm old.
