Fun hand from a unit game 7/15/2017

Yes, I'm still technically on LJ! But spend most of my Internet time-wasting on Facebook and FlyerTalk these days, so haven't really been reading here.

Both vul, in 4th seat you hold:

QJ2
A63
JT643
KQ

Your LHO opens 1NT, announced as 14-16, followed by two passes. Your strong NT defense is DONT in both seats. Your call?

Now suppose your RHO took noticeable time to think before passing. Your call?

I mean, if double is strictly penalty/values then maybe I think about it, but if partner's passes are going to be conditioned on your having a single suit source of tricks, I think this is a pretty clear pass without the hestiation, and a blindingly obvious pass given the hesitation.

At our table this hand chose to double. The full auction developed as (1NT)-P-(slow P)-X!; (P)-2C!-(X)-2D; X. Dummy came down with 9863 QT7 75 T753 and when the smoke cleared declarer was -4 for +1100 our way. At the end of the hand declarer uttered a slightly shell-shocked "Jee-zus!" and I bit my tongue but wanted to say "that's what you get for balancing on JTxxx" :-p
