Around 3:45 PM, Fedex Home Delivery (their budget/economy ground service arm) rang my doorbell and dropped off a package; by the time I opened the door and retrieved the package, the driver had already gotten back in the car and was pulling away.
Just now (~5:15) I went out to get the mail and only then did I notice this unobtrusive post-it affixed to the front door:
While I appreciate the service, I have to question the wisdom of leaving a notice on the front door informing me that a package has been left by the front door.
Reminds me of:
[A red container arrives through the pneumatic tube]
HERMES: Sweet gorilla of Manila! A letter from the Central Bureaucracy!
[He removes a note from the carrier and reads]
HERMES: Attention, Hermes Conrad: You are about to receive a letter from the Central Bureaucracy.
[Another red container arrives through the pneumatic tube; he opens that one too]
HERMES: My God! It's from the Central Bureaucracy!
