Pacification of the King

[The communicator start out flying across the room, stopping only when it hits the wall and clatters onto the floor. It seems that all the residents of Gilgamesh's home are shouting or trying to speak in some way, save for Saber, who seems to be fortunately absent from the antics ( Read more... )

[Enkidu was used to Gilgamesh's temper when they lived in Uruk, but this was different. The beast man did not have the complete reason why Gilgamesh became so upset at the appearance of the strange bow. Still, he couldn't let him do things that may end up with Gilgamesh back in that horrible cage he'd found him in.

Now he was seated at a low table, a full cup (which seemed rather small) in his hand. Filled with only the best man made drink he had ever had.]

Are you calmed now brother?

[Gilgamesh simply takes a seat on the couch opposite the table.]

I will not attack anyone.

That was not what I asked, Gilgamesh.

[Hands him a cup of beer as well before sitting comfortably on the floor.]

[Gilgamesh takes the cup, but just holds it and looks at his brother. It takes a moment, but]

I will try. I make no promise.

[And to show him, he lets out a sigh, takes a deep breath, and breathes out before taking a sip of the beer.]

[Enkidu smiles, raising his glass in a slight toast. He knew it wasn't the easiest thing to do, but it would make things simpler here.]

Thank you, Brother.

[Enkidu gets a mumbled noise of agreement while he's drinking his beer, looking disdainfully at the cup when he's done.]

It makes me think of Uruk.

It does...I do miss it a bit.

[Only a little, so long as Gilgamesh was here it really didn't matter much on anything else.]

Only a little, brother?

I had hoped the setting for our adventures would be of greater importance than that!

[He's smiling at his brother, and takes another drink from his beer. He seems to have calmed rather quickly.]

It is not the setting that's important, it is the adventures. Those can happen anywhere we so choose.

[The calmer Gilgamesh is easing Enkidu significantly. He took another drink, smiling wistfully and staring into the amber liquid.]

It really does taste as Uruk would...

The setting is important to the adventure. The best cannot be had if the proper setting is not in place.

That is true. Had our adventure with Huwawa been elsewhere; it would not have ended so well for Uruk.

[The cedar trees had only benefited the town after all.]

...Mmm.

[Gilgamesh doesn't say anything in response to that, only sinking back into the couch and drinking from his class again. The smile seems to have left him.]

[He notices the change of mood immediately and shifts up to look at his brother.]

Mmm?
