We saw this last night, and i really like it:) The other Batman movie are more pure amusement for me, but this one's really... raw and base and human, rather than superhuman. I love Liam Neeson as always; he amazes me in his versatility (esp. since the last thing i saw him in was Kinsey, a completely different role;) ). I love Morgan Freeman's character, and Michael Caine as Alfred was great:) I really like Cillian Murphy, in practically everything i've seen him in (which it turns out, is all of like 2 movies, but i can't figure out where i knew him from before Intermission...), and he does a good job in this one, although some of the psych stuff made me laugh:P (and he's so nice to look at - as Jules said "Those eyes" ;) ) Christian Bale makes a great Batman; i was kinda skeptical at first, but he was really good (and talk about yum;)) Young!Batman was really well done, and i'm such a sucker for good father-son relationships.;P There's a couple things that throw me off a little (shouldn't the tower've collapsed? and the gravelly "disguise" voice is so campy, and i kept thinking "he must've seriously wrecked his throat doing that":P), but overall, really good:)
I even think it's almost the first movie I've liked Katie Holmes in. Not quite, but almost, and definitely more than most of her other movies i've seen. I've discovered though, that i really dislike any solo-superhero's love interest, at least as they've been done lately. Some of that's due to the actresses (*coughmjcough*), but a lot is they way they're written/directed to act/something. Take Rachel- i was so pissed off at her for the car scene (what, he didn't respond the way you wanted after the first slap so you had to do it again?? and then deliver a massive emotional blow to top it off?! I hate how willing people, esp. these chicks are, and how easy it is for them to, manipulate the known weaknesses of those they profess to love), and their final scene together- she finally gets what she wants (he is a good guy, and a crimefighter, to use Ange's word), and then decides it's not good enough?! After she gets his hopes up and even kisses him?! Growl. I hate how these girls are such bitchy, (self) contradictory "girls".
(Sidenote: one good thing about being a chick: hostile aliens aren't after you, according to the War of the Worlds trailer- it only makes reference to "man's deeds", "man walking the earth", etc. I guess this is one case where sexism [and ageism, if you want to get into it] saves!)
Oh, and i watched The Outsiders again when i got home last night, which reminded me of how much i love that story (Little Bit, you should add that to the list, if you haven't already read it:) ), and that i should really retrieve my copy of the book from my mom's place (hmm, along with that scribbler of my writing fom when i was in junior/high school):P The movie rather amuses me, in how bad it is (like the fighting in the rumble scene:P), but it's not *too* bad, and it has a whole slew of 80's pretty boys (often shirtless), which makes me happy;P (I'm serious, the cast includes Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, and a bunch of others) And yes, that is kinda funny, since the movie was made before i was even born (only by a year or two), but really, those boys are still damn attractive (although some should not talk and just let us admire;P) and were then too, in a young way:P
Ok, i'm off to work on a paper, make more cimmanon bits, and read more Jude the Obscure (yes, i've been in a weird mood lately, it's been a crappy few weeks), ciao bellas and bellos:)
