I have a screnzy update to make in a minute, but first, here are two poems I've been meaning to post. I have a prose poem too, but it's not on this computer... Anyway, I did write these for English class (one of them I actually wrote in my calculus class), but I think they came out pretty well (if I do say so mysef ^^). I've submitted them to Gate [my school's literary magazine, which I'm on the staff for too], but I'm not sure which is going to be in it (I know both won't be).
So, here we go:
Unveiled
Pearl-gray stone
a tower high
Wind-blown hair--
a long-ago sigh.
A curtain of gauze
sheer spider-webbed silk;
Memories remembered
yet still beyond reach.
Red thread tugging closer
a pull gladly answered
A step through the veil
and--
[anyone know the Japanese myth? It's said that a red thread connects people that are destined to be together =]
Dust
Blood-red grass
under a glittering emerald moon
Violet dust carried by the wind
thoughts swirling into runes.
"Why?" they wonder.
"How?" they ask.
And all the while, from the vermillion sky
Dust spirals down.
[somewhat inspired by the His Dark Materials series by Philip Pullman, but ask you can see the colors are different...]
