(no subject)
As most of you know, I'm planning a party, a shindig, a get-together, a soireé. Hell, I may even want to call this an event, but really, its not that dramatic. I've been looking for an ideal weekend in which to throw this ... thing ... and I'm hoping that I can put up a date now so it gets properly noticed, bookmarked, appointed, calendar'd, etc.
Sooo.... in grand fashion, I announce:
Ultraviolet Voodoo (a party of magnificent significance)
What are you playing at, Potter?
Yes, it's a themed party. There will be flourescent face paint which you use to create tribal designs on your face/hands/chest/whatever you want to put it. The room will be rather dark, minus the blacklights that will show off your glowing faces, and additional glowing wall decor, so custom and unique paint jobs will help identify people in the crowd. If you've ever seen Blue Man Group live, think about their backup band. Like that, just less full body black jumpsuits. It's a chance to be creative while chilling with friends, having a few drinks, etc.
Okay, so that's the gimmick. What else are we going to do?
Thus far, the normal party fare. Socialize, drink, sing Kumbaya. Okay, not the last one. I intend to set up my laptop as sort of a DJ booth. Don't worry, I'm going to steal some low key music from Greg, and just queue up a playlist for background sound. Perhaps set up some interesting drinking/party games ... nothing definite yet, but I've got some ideas.
Anything else, hot shot? (get it? "hot shot"? In the section about drinking? HA, I slay me.)
I'm scheming for some drinks that glow in the dark, but thus far my search has led me to expensive, nightclub-only style setups, and tonic water (which apparently glows quite nicely due to the chemical that actually makes it tonic). So if anyone knows anything extra about glowing drinks (alcoholic or non), let me know.
So let's get this party started. When and where are you hosting this abomination unto man?
Frankenstein sends his regards. In any case, after November basically said "fuck you" to all scheduling options, and other sundry misfires, the date is currently set for December 9th, 2006. A large part of this post is to ask whether or not that's feasible. I know its a long ways away, but it is immediately post finals week (for you UCI sketches), its not terribly close to Christmas (so I don't imagine any long vacations starting around then), and it happens to be the first weekend there's not other large event going on in either my life, or the general friends pool. Other option is November 18th, but that can't be at my place. If anyone else wants to host it, I'll be glad to perform setup and tear down, just need a place.
So that's it for now folks. Remember, remember, the 9th of December, of face paint, UV, and ... um ... plot?
