In the interest of dark broodings....

One of the kids that I work with cut themselves the other night.
She was having a secret, illicit affair with another girl in the house and all of her months of lies and deceit finally caught up with her. She got in trouble, not as much as she could have, and then decided to break one of her bracelets in two and cut on her arms in about a dozen places. Her only intent was to bleed, not die. This is something that I still can't understand, why cutting yourself is so appealing, addictive and contagious to these kids. I spoke to her about it, and she says that it was stupid, but also a relief of her stress and pressures of life. I've spoken with other kids and have studied up on the topic. I've gotten every layman's opinion out there from my co-workers. They give me lots of hows and whys, but they are only words, I still don't understand the reasons and motivations behind them.
On to happier things.
I just finished the Firefly series. I have converted Tim as a fan. Either that or he is just nodding to humor me. Another kick ass show, a level above 90% of most TV and movies out there, canceled by Fox ahead of its time. Like Family Guy and Futurama. Good call guys. On a related topic, I read a rumor that Joss Whedon, the creator, may follow up Grant Morrison as the writer for X-Men. Not that that would interest anyone but me, but thats why I'm typing this stuff down, to entertain myself.
