Personality:
To the casual observer, Minato looks and seems like a stoic, nonchalant and detached loner. Listening to music with his headphones by his lonesome self. However, there's more to him than meets the eye, as anyone who pays close attention and actually spend time with him, often because of curiosity about Minato, can testify.

Minato was said to be 'easy to get along with', as he actually enjoys being with people he considers to be his friends, and interacting with them. More often than not, he's a passive listener to his companion, hearing out whatever troubles are on their mind with quiet sympathy and offering his support to them. For the people close to him, they can count on him and can listen to his advice in overcoming their problems.

However, because of his general passive approach most of the time and how often he speaks (that is, when he's not being quiet), Minato can be seen as an introvert or mistaken for wanting to please everyone with his words. He's honest and thoughtful in his choice of words, but it's easy to be mistaken about it. That’s because after the accident that took his family’s lives and forced him to move away, Minato learned to shut himself off and masked his emotions. He eventually learned to open himself up in Iwatodai, showing emotions (and even smiling!) to his friends. It’s just easier for him to stay controlled and stoic. Close friends would have an easier time of getting him to lower his barriers, where as strangers get his polite, distant demeanour.

On the field during the Dark Hour, his demeanour shifts to being a leader. He's noticeably more serious and focused as he needs to make quick judgements in battle and to issue orders to one or more party members. With his usual stoic exterior and control, Minato is able to think under pressure, which was why he's appointed the leader in battle at the beginning of the school year. Otherwise, he'd let Mitsuru take the lead for everything else, as she's most suited and more experienced with the role. But if asked, Minato would help with it.

He often looks to be very tired and sleepy, even taking naps during lectures sometimes. That's not because he's bored and inattentive, on the contrary, Minato paid close attention to the details to his surroundings, to the people and the gossips he occasionally overheard. On the other hand, fighting Shadows during the Dark Hour do take its toll on his body and mind, so he needs to rest and, sometimes, he already knows what the lecture's about anyway.

Minato can be seen to have his own little quirks, other than liking to sleep, in how he do things and in his hobbies. He loves to eat food, spend his free time not just doing karaoke and going to the cafe, but also go to the arcade for the Print Club (essentially a photo booth where you can decorate small picture stickers with borders and patterns) and the Quiz Game (which is also a part of his study schedule, oddly enough, since it can increase his Academics).

(THE FOLLOWING ARE UWW’S DEVELOPMENTS)
Due to his experiences in the Underworld, Minato was forced to adapt and change as a result of the gods’ war. Other than improving his fighting capabilities and reaction time, as the gods’ deadly games can easily kill people, Minato found himself opening up and speaking about himself more than he usually did.

Things that were normally a secret to himself (the Velvet Room occupants, Elizabeth, hearing the voices of his many Personas, seeing Pharos and so forth) was not quite a secret to the rest of SEES in the Underworld. When they were exposed over the network, Minato was secretly afraid of how his teammates think of him. They all know that Personas are a part of them, so knowing that his many ‘selves’ talk and give him advice might make him seem crazy. He doesn’t want them to question his leadership position and sanity, since there’s a lot of trust placed on him to keep them. As they’re also people he considered as his friends, he valued their opinions a lot.

However, being in the Underworld also brought good things for Minato: the chance to spend time with Minako Arisato, his twin sister, who survived the accident instead of him in her world. When they found out they shared each other’s experiences, Minato felt both relieved to find someone that understand what he’s going through, glad for this rare chance to be with his sister again and disturbed by their common Personas. Since they shared the same Personas, it made him worry about what it meant for them and their sense of identity. Despite all that, he tried not to let it bother him too much for something more important, being with his sister.

Abilities:
Minato can summon Personas, manifestations of his personality in the forms of mythological figures (primarily deities, demons, heroes, spirits, etc), with the use of the gun-shaped Evoker. As a Wild Card, he can wield multiple of Personas (up to 12 of them) and switch between them in battle, taking in their stats, as well as elemental strength and weaknesses.

A list of Personas he's currently housing, and can use from his time in the Underworld, are over here.

He’s also proficient in wielding one-handed swords (default choice, and in the PSP remake, only weapon type), two-handed swords, bow, spears, bludgeons/axes and fights with an orthodox style when equipped with gloves/knuckles. Though, he can just pick up whatever's convenient if his weapon's away.

Despite his versatility, Minato can be knocked down to the ground if an attack or a spell strike his equipped Persona's weakness, making him vulnerable until he's back up. For all his power, he's still human and mortal.

Due to his time in the Underworld, his skill with his sword has improved by a lot from fighting and training. His Personas are also stronger than they’re supposed to for their tier, because Minato’s unable to access the Velvet Room to fuse them away and he’s reluctant to dismiss them with how dangerous the Underworld is.

Sample Entries:
"Welcome back."

Minato briefly glanced over to the couch, seeing some of the SEES members sitting there. Fuuka was typing away on her laptop as always. Yukari's next to her, chatting with her from time to time. Mitsuru's looking at him from her seat, her book lowered for the moment to greet him, earlier.

"Hey, man!" Minato looked over at Junpei, who's grinning widely with an expectant look. He can easily guess what the other boy will going to ask in a moment. "How about we head to Tartarus? We should get strong enough to kick some more asses!"

A Tartarus run. It's been a few days since they entered the tower for training and exploration, before leaving due to sheer exhaustion. The past few days were spent to let them all rest up from their trek, or else they would have gotten sick. He was aware of this and keeping everyone's health in mind.

Minato thought it over to himself, knowing that everyone in the room was watching and listening. Junpei's question was loud enough for Akihiko and Shinjiro to hear from the dining area. Ken and Koromaru were also looking over from their spot near the television. And Aigis's staring at him. She's almost always watching him and he's still curious about her unexplained drive to protect him.

"We'll go tomorrow night." He answered, calmly. The teenager just returned to the dorms from spending the entire afternoon with a friend. He doesn’t feel like spending the evening at the mall, either at the cafe, arcade or go for karaoke. Junpei blinked and gave him a questioning look.

"Eh? Why? ...Ah, who cares?"

Later, when it was getting late, Minato headed for his room and closed the door behind him. His headphones hanging around his neck, he switched his music player over to a soft melody. Even though his headphones weren’t covering his ears, Minato can still hear the music.

Peace and quiet, a silent moment to himself. His attention was usually completely on his studies, Tartarus and Shadows, or spending time with his friends, the people he's bonding with. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, but sometimes, without having to focus fully on something and surrounded by people, he valued his moments of privacy without the sounds and noise of a crowd.

This was generally why he didn’t go out for karaoke that often. He liked singing, but there were far too many people there for his liking. The crowd there can feel...overbearing at times. Minato does have many friends, but he doesn't hang out in very large groups.

His eyes slowly looked around his room, before they fell on a certain bottle. One of his silent reasons for pushing the Tartarus excursion to another night, since a glance at his reflection earlier in the day reminded him of it.

Walking over to it, Minato reach out and grabbed the bottle. It’s been a few weeks since he touched up on his hair dye, and it's an activity he can do by himself in silence and at his own pace. With the Dark Hour approaching very soon, there will be plenty of time for it. Twisting the bottle open, he slowly gets into process.
