The Day a Great Nation Wept...

Sep 11, 2008 22:46

Today is September 11, 2008.

On this day, seven years ago, a great tragedy that shook the nation to its' very core took place.

Terrorists invaded the skies of the United States of America and decimated the national monument, the world's tallest buildings, the World Trade Center.

The "Twin Towers" were both taken down by planes hijacked by the terrorists from Afganistan sent by Osama Bin Laden.

The on lookers of New York watched in horror as the planes with hostages crashed into the buildings.

Those trapped inside the buildings and planes watched terrified as they saw their death quickly approaching. They pulled out their cell phones and sent e-mails to their loved ones as death came in a flash.

They faced their deaths bravely. They knew there was no possible chance of survival and welcomed the cold embrace of death.

The loved ones of these victims wept at the loss of the lives of innocent people, bystanders, that were taken by a cruel shameless terrorist attack.

Let us not forget the importance of this day and all it represents. The United States, a once proud and untouchable lion has shown us that even the greatest world power can fall at the hands of a small mouse.

Throughout the remainder of this day, take a moment to reflect on September 11, 2001. Take a moment to honour those who deserve it most.
