Don't be so optimistic, it will jinx it! Geese are dumb. Some never even fly south cuz there's so much food here.

I fully expect it to remain crappy and cold for a while . so far that expectation has resulted in being able to bike to and from work in a fall coat for most of a week . I'll really think its spring when I see a red-winged blackbird or a robin .

I'll really think it's spring when I see the buds on the trees and little plants pushing their way through the dirt. I never rely on birds anymore, they always cheat.

you do that . I'm planning on making some more plants push their way out so I gotta gamble with earlier signs .

no , I'm filling in my gravel backyard with a trailer load of compost/dirt to make it less of a dive around here . but in order to get as much planting/growing time in I gotta get the dirt as soon as the ground thaws and plant as soon as it's spring enough for stuff to live .

the grow lamp is only life support for my poor hibiscus thaths hiding in the bathroom from the kittens .

I'l get some for them but not grow some . theres about a million stray and outdoor cats in this neighbourhood , don't need em all hanging out in my backyard . hopefully the lilacs will take off and most of the room will be taken up quickly .
