Only at this house, I swear...
The smoke-detector above my bedroom door's beeping ear-splittingly loudly every, about, ten minutes. I went down and got my mom. When she unscrewed it, it was hardwired (no low batteries.) She screwed it back together and there was silence for a while. When she asked if I was sure, it beeped again. "...I'll get Dad" she said. There's no smoke up here.
It's beeping more frequently, now, I think...
This just in: Mom reports it's now beeping downstairs too.
