Kitten fencing

Mar 24, 2008 19:23

I made a kitten fence yesterday in order to save the seedlings from further depredations by Mr. Cat. it consists of string wrapped sloppily around the shelving unit up to about 8 inches above the shelf. I think it will work. I have horrible visions of coming home to find him hopelessly tangled up and in the process of hanging himself in my fence. But so far I have not followed through on my threats to kill him for digging up leeks and chomping on shallots, so it would serve him right in a way.

What will be really interesting will be in a couple weeks when I plant tomatoes and flowers and have to use the middle shelf, which he can easily reach.

In other garden news the hop rhizomes have arrived! they're presently in the fridge, patiently awaiting the arrival of warmer weather. Soon we'll be putting stuff in the ground. I can't wait.
