UDDUP 79-80! (beware obsessive post)
Soooo we're finally getting Mamoru's backstory yesss. Or at least part of it. First the question of Mamoru's crime: why did he kill his teacher? According to Genda's sensei, Mamoru was taken into custody afterwards, but he refused to talk, so nobody really knows what's happened. However, sensei says that knowing Makabe (Mamoru's teacher), he probably made Mamoru kill him as a part of the tradition of passing on in a final match. He said he doesn't believe that Mamoru really wanted to murder his teacher, but he also observed that Mamoru was abnormally obsessed with his kendo practice when he later came to his dojo; that he was the most talented person he'd ever seen, and that at about the age of 20 he knew more than he himself, etc etc. Yeah thanks for reminding us how badass and invincible Mamoru is. No, really. XD
(In case you're wondering why he made Haruka cry, she was just being too nosy asking about his past and stuff and he told her he didn't care about killing his teacher, told her 'don't expect much of me' and told her to piss off (or something like that).
ANYWAY~
The second question gnawing at me is the (cute/hot) crutches-guy's relationship to Mamoru. Well, we didn't find out much about him (except that he knows his keigo) but he looks really yummy on that cover dammit! I guess I have a weakness for hot disabled guys (because they don't exist in the real world). And I'll stop overusing parentheses as of now. XD Oh and we found out his name! <3 Tatsumi Daiba <3. So unless he was adopted, he isn't Mamoru's long lost nii-chan. He seems to have business with Haruka though, since he is stalking her from the shadows until she's alone. Maybe he really gave that ridiculous task to Mamoru only to distract him from her? Saa~ I can only guess. Perhaps we'll find out about his motive in the next chapter? Also, Haruka didn't seem extremely surprised to meet him, as if she already knew him? She probably saw him there in her vision or something anyway - but did she know whoTatsumi Daiba was?
And~ finally, I had to share bits of a (not entirely sane) irc chat session, with various theories and conclusions (sorry dear I couldn't help it... at least I didn't post the whole log right? XP)
1. Tatsumi said to Haruka 'I'm sure you want to know why I came to see you?' --------> I AM YOUR FATHER!!! (or nii-chan, if you like. I do. Tatsumi doesn't have kids! He's too hot to have kids!)
2. Tatsumi is going to confront Mamoru in the next chapter (come on, he's just fighting somewhere next door!! :D) <-- this is what I really want to see
3. But then there arose the question, can he actually fight? Oh wait, MAYBE THERE'S A SWORD HIDDEN IN THE CRUTCH!
4. Even if he can fight, is there anyone who can defeat Mamoru? Sensei called him a 'devilish swordsman' <- I really LOLed here when I saw that page.
I bet if there's anyone who can defeat him it will be Tatsumi. (sorry, Genda-san!) A blind guy defeated by a lame guy! :D Come on, it is a possibility. Take away Mamoru's glasses and he's blind as a bat, even worse since he lost his ultrasound... (He could like, trip him while Mamoru is looking for his glasses and be like 'oops my bad' or something... :D'
6. So, as they're fighting, daddy Genda will rush back to spank the brats who can't contain themselves. He'll easily beat them up because he's not disabled and punishing misbehaving bastards is his job. And then they can all go to the hospital to join the rest of the cast... lol. And have a party/orgy or something... But wait he's still stuck in Hokkaido! He won't make it... unless he has some kind of fusion power stealth teleport device!!! But of course he has, because he is a man afterall~! If nothing else, surely his razor turns into a wooden sword at will, at least? ;) <-- he could carry that easily anywhere with him, too!
7. Also, there's the question of who blinded Mamoru? I have said that it is likely that Mamoru knew Tatsumi from before he got blinded, because he seemed to remember what he looked like in that flashback from ch.76 ---> THAT'S PROOF THAT HE BLINDED HIM!!! Oh come and feel the angst~ ~ ~ ~
