On a serious note: United 93 is coming out soon. The film about the airplane, that was planning on hitting the whitehouse or the capitol, that crashed in Pennsylvania. I would like to know everyone's thought on the matter. Is it too soon to make movies about 9/11? They are, i believe, more movies coming out about the subject matter. I know of

i don't think its too soon. we think about it everyday, discuss it every day, and our nation is still responding to it.
We will always live in the shadow of the Two Towers.
For us to say, "yes exploit every genre, but please don't make it into a movie" is foolish and fiercely hypocritical...
why will the film tank? Because people wrongly see 9/11 as a defeat, and because the film is more than likely not good.
And because the film has absolutely no context. In the '50s they filmed "A Night to Remember"- about the 1912 sinking of the Titanic. The final scenes had this dialogue:
Lightoller (2nd Officer of late RMS Titanic): I've been at sea since I was a boy... I've even been shipwrecked before. This is different.
Another Survivor: Because we hit an iceberg?
Lightoller: Because we were so sure. Because even though its already happened, I can hardly imagine it. I don't think I'll be sure again, about anything.
This dialogue came from the knowledge of what happened from 1912-1950's. The loss of innocence leading to two world wars and a slew of tragedy
----This is the only supposed 'too soon' to be mentioned... not enough time has passed for people to know what the event has meant.
What do we know about the actual United 93? On a day when America was attacked and feared with fear, ordinary people turned the tide against evil. No matter whatever else happened that day, those people have that claim... they began our response to 9/11
and no one will go, because they labor under the delusion that we're beaten.
