URI Theater: The GodAwful Truth(A Completely Fictional Story)

I think it’s time to come out with it…the truth. I don’t post everything on LJ. Not everyone does. But all these things have been bottled up inside of me, and they have to come out. Beware of what I’m going to tell you. You won’t look at me the same way ever again.

Well it starts off during the spring/summer of 2004. The lovely time of year that I graduated from the University of Rhode Island, but you all know I didn’t truly cut ties to URI completely. Lets start off with when problems started.
First off, Liz and I were hanging out before one of the last classes of acting. We were the only ones in J Studio at the time. She was setting up for her scene and I was helping her. We were joking around, flirting, and having a witty repartee (sp?); what we usually do. So then I had fake ring in my pocket at the time, because I stuck a quarter in those gumball/toy machines. I was shooting for the stretchy sticky hand that you fling onto walls, but I got a toy ring instead. So jokingly, after we finished setting up, I got down onto one knee and proposed to her with the fake ring. I did it with a serious face, and waited for my answer. Liz let out a laugh and said, “Absolutely.” We all had a good laugh, and she turned to me and said, “Let’s actually get married!” I don’t know if it’s the stress of graduating getting to her or she was being over worked at the time, but she was actually serious. I stood there in silence, waiting for a punch line but there wasn’t one. “Are you serious?” I questioned. “Yeah, why not!” Liz replied. Seeing that I should leap at this opportunity, I took it. We both decided to get married. I don’t know if something was in the water or not, but we both thought this was a great idea. We were excited. Just a couple of crazy kids in love?
We decided to keep it a secret and not tell anyone. We know how gossipy the department is. If anyone knew of our nuptial, the news would of spread like wildfire! I would suspect, David T. Howard would of tried to slap some sense into Liz if he knew what was actually gonna happen.Liz and I decided to keep it a secret from our families because they would have talked some sense into us.
That night we went ring shopping. We went to some stores looking for rings. Name a place, we went there. Liz fell in love with this $3500 diamond ring. It was absolutely gorgeous and Liz didn’t want any other ring than that. I almost had a heart attack when I saw the price. I just smiled and agreed to get that ring. But I told her, I would get it for her the next day. I did get that ring, but with the help of Pat I actually stole it. I’m surprised that our ridiculous plan worked. I’m not gonna tell you how we did it because, you wouldn’t even believe us if I did. Just let me tell you this; as we left that store and got back to URI, that store still had the “ring” but Walmart was missing one ring as well.
Two days later, I believe it was a Monday, I showed her the ring in the parking lot of Fine Arts. She was ecstatic! Liz couldn’t believe that I got that ring for her. “How can you even afford this?” Liz said while staring at her new rock. “I would do anything in the world to make you happy,” I said and left it at that. She didn’t question me afterwards; I guess she decided to take that ambiguous answer from me.
We got married on the Friday after graduation, during the day. Liz was still doing Ruby Sunrise, so she didn’t have much time to herself. So we found the most convenient time for her and got married at Providence city hall. It wasn’t pretty and grand, but if we were gonna keep it a secret, it was gonna stay that way. We paid two people who were there to get a building license to be our witnesses to the matrimony. I think their names were Joan and Timothy Kurtz. Nice couple.
So let’s fast forwards through first month of wedded bliss and stop on the last performance day of Ruby Sunrise. Keep in mind our marriage is still a secret to everyone. So, I went to see the show, very entertaining. I liked it. I met with Erin, Jed and Liz after the show. To let you know, they all were extras in it. I was one also, but got fired. Long story and we’ll save that story for a separate time. I was talking with all of them after the show and we all decided to go our separate ways after it. Erin to Warren, Myself to Woonsocket, and Jed/Liz to their house on Angel st. that they shared with Liz’s sister Jade.
The story just gets more convoluted from there. What I thought was an ok night, would actually turn out to be a horrible one for me. I went home to bed assuming my marriage was great and just gonna get better. What I did not know was that Liz that night was cheating on me with Jed!

To be continued….
