No more Rosen.
I'm very, very pleased with this turn of events.
If you're just playing catch-up, I have a job proper doing interactive production work at GKV Interactive, which is part of a rather large (100+ employee) design firm on the south side of the harbor. It smells like salt water ass taffy outside, which is quite unbearable, but it pays well. I'm freelance, which means I have no contract, and I'm paid relatively low ($15/h), and I have no benefits.
So far the job is amazing - it's fast paced, very controlled, and in an environment where I get a quick turnaround on whether something is done or needs more work.
There is actually a strong possibility that I will become "full-time" there - meaning salaried and benefited, because I'm the only one who uses a PC and we are starting to use a program more and more often that only runs on PC. They want me to become the go-to guy for that. Pretty cool.
My department head is a bit of a doof, the kind of guy who says/asks/does something and you just kinda open your eyes a little in amazement at the audacity/seeming clueness of it. He used to work for Microsoft. My immediate supervisor and comrade in arms is a pretty snappy guy who's quick on corrections. He has his own idiosynchroses but by and large is quiet and helpful.
Laura works at the Starbucks inside Barnes and Noble. Deep discounts mean Christmas shopping will be easy this year.
