Girl's Day Out

Jan 28, 2012 17:25

My Christmas present to my mom was a "certificate" good for a girl's day out consisting of a day trip to Brandon, where she could do some shopping and I would take her to lunch at Giordano's, the Chicago-style deep dish pizza place we both love.

Earlier this week she asked what I was doing on Saturday. "Nothing," I said. So we made a date.

This morning we headed out. We got to Brandon and hit the mall. She picked out two pairs of shoes, which I paid for. I got a calendar for 75% off, my usual one: golden retriever puppies. Cost all of two dollars, which was even better. My mom wanted to look at throw rugs for her living room, but we couldn't find any, and by that point we were both pretty hungry, so we decided to do lunch.

Only, we couldn't.

Giordano's was closed!

I can't remember when I was this disappointed. I loved that place! And their official website still lists the Brandon location as being open, so neither of us had any inkling that it wasn't open anymore.

So we went to Applebee's instead. Which was fine. It just wasn't Giordano's.
