Home now from spending the weekend with
jennnlee and going to MegaCon in Orlando. As always it was tremendous fun, while managing to kick my butt too. (Although it doesn't help that I'm either sick or suffering a major allergy attack, and I've been sleeping like crap lately.)
The con itself was great. It's always a blast to walk around and see the people in their costumes, even if many of them are anime characters I can't recognize. It's still so much fun to see people spend time and effort on something they care deeply about -- and it's all accepted. I always like to describe MegaCon as the place where I can let my inner geek come out and play. And the cool part is that we're all geeks when we're there.
I took some pictures which I'll hopefully share later. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of what was easily the best costume ever, since I only saw her once. A girl was walking around with a Weeping Angel strapped to her back, and either an awesome blond wig or naturally beautiful Sally Sparrow hair. It was absolutely stunning and I really really wish I could have found her later and taken her picture.
When we weren't being geeks at the con, we were busy being geeks at home or while out and about. There was pizza and a killer Chinese food buffet, the great Mt. Dora downtown, some Guitar Hero, some Farscape (I think I've got a convert, yay!), lots of awesome discussion of Doctor Who (nice to meet you, Eight!), I finally got to see Dr. Horrible, and of course, some wonderfully fuzzy, sweet puppies.
It was a such great weekend. They really don't get much better than this.
