Yuletide recs!

It's that time of year again. I actually did stay up until the archive opened, and then I read to my heart's content until falling asleep face first on my keyboard. That's the second time I've done that this year. But another one's starting in just a few days, isn't it? Bother time, it always seems to jump up on you.

Romance Its Vissitudes - A New X-men: Academy X story all about Victor and how he deals with love. This story is very important to me for a number of reasons--firstly, it has the kids acting normally in a post-death world. And second, the author wrote X-23 and didn't fail miserably at it. It's really a beautifully written snippet of their lives, and how they're all growing up, despite the death and decay.

Hearts Torn Open So The Sun Shines Through - A 3:10 to Yuma story (the new version) about Ben Wade and Alice Evans. In my opinion, this is exactly how the movie should have ended, and I'm glad that someone wrote it.

Battle, A Different Kind - A Mulan story that really goes deep into the ethics and standards of China during the time that Mulan is supposedly set. I love when people take stories that don't do that and make them do that, and while we all know that Disney is not the best at historical reference, this story makes it that much more okay for me.

Night Watch - A Batman Beyond story about Max and Terry. *sighs happily* The highest of all of my OTPs, and in some ways the most broked of them. I'm so happy with this.

The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down - The most brilliant Who Framed Roger Rabit? story ever. Trust me on this. Once you start reading it, you feel your insides begin to convulse until you can't help it and laugh all the way through. Featuring Gargoyles, Toy Story slash, Freakazoid, and every other cartoon known to man.

Love's Labors - An Othello story that works and makes so much sense of Othello and Emilia. They are my Shakespearian broked OTP, and they work out quite well here--at least in theory.

Do What You Gotta Do (Five Pieces Of Advice Ben Completely Ignores) - A Knocked Up story that has just absolutely perfect characterization. I love Ben and Allison and they are portrayed very lovingly here, with some guy jokes and girl jokes to boot.

The Fearless Moral Inventory of Milhouse Van Houten - A Simpsons story that will completely change your outlook on the show. The thing I love about the Simpsons is that it has a heart, and this story, although it has a style completely different from the show's, manages to take the characters and make them into something entirely new, which I think is what Yuletide is really all about.
