Why is December the Best and Worst Month

Dec 07, 2009 20:15

Warning: This is from the point of view of a college student that doesn't believe nor celebrates holidays.

Best

It's the last month of the year, duh.
You get presents even from people you barely know of.
Drink coquito.
It's cold.
You wear cool winter clothes.
It's the start of winter season.
You shop like crazy.
It's your birthday. (this is my case even though I don't celebrate it)
More presents.
Lots of holidays are celebrated. (Puerto Rico's case)
Great job-hunting, even in times of economic recession and high unemployment rates.
School/University/College midterm break.
There's that crazy countdown for the new year.
You can't wait for the year to be over.
You reflect on how good the year and this month was.
You're with your loved ones.
You get a bonus payment.
You get to go on vacations.
Do nothing.
Get a new haircut.

Worst

Midterm exams.
It's too cold. (Not in Puerto Rico's case)
People go ballistic at malls.
You can't find that expensive item you or your child wanted for Christmas.
You have to buy presents for people you don't even know just to be on their good side or due to family tradition.
You have to go visit your folks and see many of the annoying family members that you can't stand.
You're alone and have no one to be with during this month.
You reflect on how bad this month and/or year was.
Loose bullets during New Years Eve.
You won't get your bonus payment due to economic recession or company changes.
You have to work during the holidays.
Have nothing to do.
You won't get any vacations.
You have to hear the most atrocious Christmas folk songs on the radio and on every store. (Puerto Rico's case)
Your light bill will increase a lot.
You don't get any gifts.
You're unemployed.
Time goes way too fast.
You've realized that you haven't done anything great.
The hairstylist ruined your hair.

I'm sure there are more reasons to be added but those are all I could think of at the moment.

P.S: December is my favorite month.

random, december
