Bayonetta is released at the start of January, and all I can say is... hurry the fuck up. I played the demo of this, going in with somewhat high expectations. Please take note that I'm a big fan of DMC3 and 4, so I already know how to appreciate games like this. I downloaded the demo, around 800mb in size, and then watched the cheesy intro. It's definetly got the cheesiness down to a fine craft, which isn't a suprise since the director of the game is the guy who did the first Devil May Cry. I started up the tutorial and started messing around, and the first thing that came to light was the fact that there's a ton of combo's for you to mess around and experiment with... and then I switched weapons and found a ton more. There's a lot of stuff to play with, almost to the point where you'll just try anything in an effort to see what you might do. It places the creativity of the character's fighting style directly in your hands, a very well considered layout as well.
The graphics are pretty good, though the very first scene of the game seems like a real mess (think Guilty Gear in terms of special effects), but it tones itself down nicely afterwards. The style of the game is... kind of weird. I don't know what to think about a character who is over-sexualized. I know that it was what they were going for, but jesus christ... it's like Nailin Palin took a class in PAIN or something like that. My only bugbear is that the game feels too easy at the moment. I hope they don't lock up the hard difficultly, playing through a game twice can be kind of annoying in my opinion.
Is it worth a look? Yes. If you have the time to download the game then have a quick go and tell em what you think.
