The world is a vampire

I woke up to the sound of Emily screaming from the top bunk.

Stop screaming, dumbass. It just makes them hurt you more. I thought, but didn't dare say it outloud.

Wouldn't be the first time I woke up to the sounds of the guards havin' their way with her. She might be my bitch, but I only protected her from the other inmates, wasn't about to get thrown in solitary tryin' to protect her ass from some horny night guards. So instead I tried to drown out her screams with the pillow over my ears.

My eyes went to the door and I realized it was open. Actually all the doors were open. Also, Emily never screamed. She squirmed and whimpered and cried, but she knew better than to scream. Something was seriously wrong. As soon as I realized it, two cold hands grabbed my ankles and yankedme off the bed, onto the hard floor. I leapt up to my feet quickly and peered into yellow eyes.

"Faith!" Emily was screaming from her bunk. Would someone shut that bitch up? I had a serious throwdown to focus on here, and I was a little rusty.

The vamp threw a punch at me and he was obviously a fledgling. Cause I blocked it easily. Trippin' him with one foot, I grabbed his shirt and sent him sailing headfirst into the bars. Turning around, I realized the other two vamps had left Em to focus on me.

"That's right, boys." I smirked wickedly at them. "Who wants a piece first?" With that they both rushed me. One came on my right and I punched him hard in the face, using my momentum I spun around and brought a foot up to kick the other one in the throat. "Alright, a threesome it is."

Trying to focus in the dark I realized they were both wearing some wierd armour, symbols painted onto their faces. Guess they liked the taste of prisoners, cause from the looks and sounds of things they'd brought lots of friends. Enough to take over the entire prison. Before his buddy could get back to his feet I grabbed the one closest to me and snapped his neck in one quick movement. The other one made a wierd hissing noise as he got to his feet and rushed me again. You'd think they'd learn their lesson...stupid vamps. Grabbing his arm I tossed him easily towards the door, before he could recover I slammed the door shut. When it opened back up his head rolled to the floor before his whole body turned to dust.

I jumped when I felt a hand on my arm, and turned around to see Emily behind me. Her other hand was pressed to her neck and I could see two puncture wounds underneath it.

"Faith, you're like a superhero." She said in awe.

Rolling my eyes I took her hand and pulled her out of our cell. "Come on..." I coaxed her as we walked through the hallway in the dark. She pressed against my back as the screams echoed through the building. I was thinkin' we could make it to the guard's station and then use their stairs to get to the first floor and blow right on out of here. My sense was all the guards were dead and no one would try to stop us. No one human anyways.

As soon as we rounded the corner I cursed when I saw a gang of vamps standing in front of the guard's station. I could probably make my way through them, but I didn't think I'd be able to get Em safely through. For a second I thought about leaving her and letting her fend for herself. It was tempting but I couldn't do it.

Tugging on her hand I pulled her down another hallway. It wasn't long before we hit the maintenance closet. Opening the door I looked inside to make sure it was all clear before pushing Em inside and closing the door behind us. Fumbling along the wall I finally found the light switch and a second later light flooded into the closet.

"Who are those guys?" Emily asked me, looking at me through wide eyes. "They bit me!"

I moved her hand away from her neck and examined the wound. They must have just barely punctured the skin when I woke up. She was one lucky bitch. "You'll be fine. Help me find something I can use for a weapon." Turning away from her I began scouring through the cleaning supplies.

"What are we gonna do?" Em asked, finally breaking the silence.

"Well, I was thinkin' I might find a weapon and kick some ass." I said with a shrug, as my hands clenched around a wrench. "Score."

"No. But how are we gonna get out of here?" I could hear the fear in her voice andit annoyed me. Didn't I already save her ass once? She should know she was safe with me. But here she was shaking and freaking out.

Putting the wrench down I gripped her shoulders with bruising force, and looked into her pale eyes. 'Em, come on. Don't I always take care of you?" She nodded weakly at me. "And you said yourself that I'm a superhero or something. I'm gonna get both of us out of here. OK?" She nodded at me again but I could still see the fear in her eyes.

Was wierd that a chick like Em would be in cell block twelve, because every girl in cell block twelve was in the clink for murder. Course Em wasn't like me, she'd gotten twenty give years for murdering her stepfather with a baseball bat one night after he'd managed to pass out drunk on the couch. Why? Couple of hours before he's put her mum in the hospital with a couple broken ribs...for the fifteenth time.

Don't know why I picked Emily out of all the girls here to be my bitch. I wasn't in prison for all that long before I figured out how shit works around here. There's your tough badass chicks who all wanted to fuck with me the minute they realized I was someone who shouldn't be fucked with. Then there's half the inmates, like Em, who need someone to take care of 'em, protect 'em. She was cute no doubt about it with blond hair and pale eyes. And yes, it didn't escape my attention that she looked alot like B.

"Come on." I said pulling her out the door. I had a plan...kinda. If I could get to the service elevator we could take that down to the bottom floor. But if there wasn't power we'd have to climb down.

Spotting the metallic elevator doors I pushed the down button but it didn't light up. Power was cut, just like I thought. Digging my fingers in between the two doors I pried them apart and looked down. Twelve flights was a long drop into nothing but there was a small service ladder to the side.

"Alright, down we go." I nudged her towards the ladder, and just as I did a vamp blindsided me sending me crashing into the wall across from the elevator. I cracked my head hard and slid to the floor as more of his friends ran towards us down the hallway.

Springing up I kicked teh vamp hard in the knees sending him to the ground. But two of his pals grabbed my arms from behind.

"Run!" I yelled at Emily, but she stood frozen in place, fucking idiot that she was.

Breaking out of their grip I swung the wrench hitting one in the head. The other one took off back down the hallway, leaving just me and the original one, nasty lookin' purple mohawk on his head. "Just to let you know, the 80's been over for awhile." With a smirk I elbowed him in the face and threw him straight through the doors of the elevator. I heard him yell all the way down and and then splat as he hit the bottom.

"I got the feelin reinforcements are on their way. We gotta get out of here." I said to Em, nodding at the ladder again.

"Faith...I. I don't think I can." She stammered nervously, and did she have the worst timing ever or what? I grabbed her shoulders again about to tell her to get shit together when her mouth opened wide and a strangled sound escaped.

"Em?" I asked her, confused and that's when I saw it, a small trickle of blood escaped from her mouth. I caught her as she toppled into my arms, and then noticed the knife embedded into her back. Looking up I saw two more vamps standing behind her. Mohawk's friends had finally shown up.

Already knew it was too late for her, so I took the knife out of her back and gave her one last look. Really was too bad, she had been a decent chick. Clutching the knife I leapt into action. With the wrench in one hand and the knife in the other I stood in the middle of the hallway and faced them. Their asses were grass, no doubt.

"Bring it." I said darkly, and the two of them were almost too easy. The first one flung himself at me and all I had to do was duck and watch him sail in through the elevator doors.

When I turned back I was greeted with a fist in the face. I fell hard to the ground and groaned, my face inches away from Emily's. Blue eyes staring wide open, at nothing.

"Some here I turned out to be, huh?" I muttered to her still form.

Getting back up to my feet I looked around and realized that the vamp was but dust but there was an automatic weapon pointed at my face. Men in army fatigues ran by, some battling vampires. Others talking into radios, all with guns.

"Faith Hanley?" The man asked me, taking the gun out of my grill.

"Umm....yeah." I answered, raising an eyebrow at him.

He only nodded at me and took a radio out of his pocket. "We've got the slayer in custody." He said quickly before putting it back in his pocket.

"What the fuck is going on?" I demanded. Since when did the army fight vampires? That was my Buffy's job.

"I'm special agent Sierra. United States Army. Initiative. If you'll follow me I can fill you in on the situation." With that he turned and headed towards one of the offices as his buddies fought off vamps all around us.

I followed him, because what the fuck else was I gonna do?
