me smart

I saw a bumper sticker on a car this morning that was amusing on many levels. It said, and I quote: "Time to trim the Bush's".

I suppose that statement is an amusing play on words displaying a person's dismay with the current presidential status, but listen...if you are going to make a statement like that, would it kill you to at least make it grammatically correct? You see, Mr. Maker of Witty Political Bumper Stickers, that apostrophe followed by the letter S would indicate a possessive, which really should be followed up with another word, preferably a noun...for example "Time to trim the Bush's branches" or "Time to trim the Bush's long beard". Okay, so that last example had an adjective and a noun, but I can do that because it is grammatically correct.

So, while at first, I snorted half-heartedly at a sort-of clever phrase, I actually now am just bewildered at a blatant disregard of punctuation and grammar in a statement that is obviously meant to criticize someone who is not so smart...but I am also confused because maybe there is something that belongs to the Bushes that needs trimming, but I don't know what it is.

THE END

And before anyone goes correcting this entry for grammar, spelling and punctuation, just let me give the disclaimer that I know I make mistakes in all these areas, but I am also not looking to professionally reproduce this journal entry and stick it on someone's car bumper. Thanks.
