11:03 AM 11/1/10 · Had a couple things to do for once, although I kinda found out about the second a little late in the game. Not much went down as I expected it to but I'm hardly going bonkers about it.
First off was Saturday,
Raven was having a little movie party at her new place. I wanted to go for a few reasons, big amongst them being I literally had not seen her in close to a year; Halloween 2009 to be precise. Nice enough place, too much stuff, cat hair on everything. Zyrtec covered me on that last bit, though I was still a little stuffy the following day.
Almost didn't go due to getting there. I'd found the address on Mapquest, looking for the nearest route to Caltrain...which was a not small hike. I didn't think to look at the Lightrail, which I ride so rarely I usually forget the thing even exists. When I learned
niveK was going I tried to get a ride from him but he was feeling under the weather, said he might do it if he was feeling better...
...which didn't work out.
Yeah, I knew about this thing a week in advance.
I wasn't aware we could bring our own movies. Might've missed that detail in the invite. Not sure what I would've done, by which I mean bring my whole case of DVDs or just select a few. There were 2 massive boxes of DVDs there, although we ultimately only watched 2 movies. Specifically Zombie Strippers and something I think was called The Triplets of Belleville...
...really recommend you track down that second one. I plan to do a writeup of it for
Renters·Reviews later this week.
Things were cut short, on my side of things, by karaoke. I'm not a fan. That and I had a vague hope to head home in time to hit Mollie Stone's because my cupboards were literally bare...which they remained as I got back too late for both that place and Walgreen's.
For the mention, despite what she may've thought on the matter,
Raven was looking damned good. It took a lot of self control to not scoop her up and nibble her brains out the entire time I was there. Not just there, from the moment she met me at the Lightrail station and the still fairly long walk there.
Late Sunday, All Hallows Eve, I got a text from
Suzi asking me if I was going to be at
niveK's Halloween party. I asked what party. She said he'd sent invites to everyone, presumedly just the ones he's friended to, on facebook. I pointed out to her, and him a few hours later when he texted, that it's sometimes annoying how most of the people I know fail to take into account that I'm not online 24 hours a day. Sometimes not even 7 days a week.
Contacting me directly is best. As we had been texting during the week and
niveK didn't mention a party once, even if he does have it every year, I didn't know I was invited. Nor did I just assume. After all,
niveK usually has a birthday party every year but he didn't this year due to a medical emergency.
It was never rescheduled.
Lots of Trick or Treaters this year, up and down the street. Not one knock. I even went so far as to walk out with a bag of candy and wait for someone to happen by but that didn't play out either. Might've been better if I'd headed out earlier when I heard them hit the main house and get no response but I was kinda glued to 2 different horror movies on 2 different channels.
I didn't buy a lot of candy, Smarties I've had for awhile (they don't go bad) and some mini 3 Muskateers I picked up the other day. Guess I'll just be forced to eat them.
