The general downside of the Unemployment Check scenario is that if you deviate slightly you get a phone interiew setup. Set between 8am and 10am on the weekend, which isn't an issue for me as I wake up around 8 regardless of whatever day it is, and you have to explain to them what went wrong. I've had to deal with a number of different people, popular job with a diverse range of employees, but it's uusally gone okay.
Most of them are pretty decent. A couple have informed me of ways to cheat the system. No, really. 2nd time I had to do one of these I had sent in on the form that I hadn't looked for work during the previous pay period. This was due to to the fact I had to take care of my Mom therein as she was deathly (literally) ill. So I told the girl on the phone interview this and she told me that regardless of what I was doing I should always say I had been looking for work.
Whatta world.
Another time I got someone who was clearly a new hire and definitely didn't know the system. She kept screwing up and took it out on me, docking my paychecks for a few weeks. I wish her pain and suffering and tooth decay.
This most recent one I sent in my form a couple days late, they're really stingy on the timespans. No good reason, which i would've happily told them for the interview. What it was that the rains that i love but are off season had driven ants in and with the fumes and whatnot I kinda slacked off. That and this was the reason the form might smell a little buggy. Anyway, the interview was this morning and I was awake...
...not happily awake, stayed up late watching something on cable, but awake...
...and I picked up the phone and, for whatever reason, it went straight to voicemail.
So, I'm at Kinko's now futiley trying to Access their website (always broken or offline at the worst times) trying to reschedule and let them know I was ready but something went horribly wrong. Probably won't matter as they do love to penalize. It keeps them from having to pay people.
